Top Performers

  • Madelyn Barone led the Golden Eagles with 14 points, going 6-for-11 on the field, as well as recording four rebounds, three assists, one block, and a steal.
  • Gabrielle Andreacchi recorded 13 points, hitting three three-pointers, four assists, and a block.

How It Happened

  • St. Joseph's came out aggressive in the opening quarter, as Andreacchi opened the scoring for the Golden Eagles with a three-pointer and a layup by Barone.
  • USMMA matched SJLI shot-for-shot through the opening minutes of the first quarter, but shots from Barone and a second three-pointer from Andreacchi helped keep St. Joseph's in the lead.
  • A late jumper from Chantelle Larbi kept the Golden Eagles in the lead at the end of the first quarter 15-12.
  • Three-pointers from Vitale and Andreacchi helped ignited the offense in the second quarter, putting SJLI in a 7–2 point lead.
  • Barone continued to lead the scoring before halftime, and Vitale knocked down a second three-pointer in the final minute of the half to keep St. Joseph's in the lead before the break.
  • Coming out of halftime, the Mariners took a six point scoring run to put themselves in the lead for the first time in the game.
  • Vitale and Dellaporta scored beyond the arc to put the Golden Eagles back in the lead, but that was shortly dismissed by Merchant Marine,
  • With 18 seconds left in the third, Barone hit a free throw to tie the game 42-42.
  • In the final quarter, Andreacchi controlled the tempo in the closing minutes, creating opportunities for teammates and drawing fouls as St. Joseph's continued to fight until the final horn.
  • The Golden Eagles' late surge came up short, as SJLI dropped the conference matchup, 64–55.
