Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) Golden Eagles battled hard but couldn't overcome Rutgers-Newark's efficient attack and serving, dropping the match in straight sets (23-25, 19-25, 15-25).

Top performers:

• Declan Kerns led the Golden Eagles with 10 kills, adding a game-high 14 digs and one service ace
• Shaun Mischler contributed seven kills and four digs.
• Logan Meyer added five kills and seven digs.
• Chase Meyer recorded three kills, two digs, and one solo block.
• Dominic Ruggiero dished out 25 assists and three digs.

How it happened:

• Rutgers–Newark edged SJLI in a tightly contested opening set, pulling away late after falling behind to St. Joseph's 15-12 but fought back to claim a 25–23 decision after multiple lead changes.
• The Golden Eagles again claimed a lead late in the second set taking control with a 17-14 advantage. The Scarlett-Raiders responded by finishing the set on a 11-2 scoring run to take set two 25-19. 
• The third set saw both teams battle closely as the set was tied at nine a piece before Rutgers-Newark ran away with it to close the match in straight sets 25-15.

Notes:

• St. Joseph's hit .097 overall (28 kills, 18 errors on 103 attempts) with two aces, 39 digs, and two blocks (both solo).
• Rutgers-Newark was efficient with a .275 hitting percentage (42 kills, 14 errors on 102 attempts), seven aces, 42 digs, and nine total blocks (one solo, 16 assists). They outscored SJLI 58-32 in total points.
• The match featured 12 lead changes across sets, with 28 ties.
