Women's Lacrosse Falls on the Road to Swarthmore

Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's lacrosse fall on the road 20-4 to Swarthmore on Saturday afternoon. 

Top performers:

  • Junior Kaitlyn Ippolito led the Golden Eagles with three goals, one ground ball, two draw controls, and two caused turnovers.
  • Senior Gianna Darienzo secured one goal for the Golden Eagles
  • Senior Julia Stolba recorded one assist and four draw controls.
  • Senior Maggie Harding finished with eight saves.
  • Aubree Daugherty led Swarthmore with four goals.
  • The Garnet had eleven players score, while two players scored thee goals and two players scored two goals, respectively

How it happened:

  • Swarthmore took command of the game early, scoring the first three goals of the game. 
  • The Garnets's defense prevent St. Joseph's from making any goals in the first quarter, ending the quarter 7-0.
  • Darienzo scored the first goal for the Golden Eagles at 9:45 in tne second quarter on a man-up opportunity.
  • The Garnet would take a six point scoring run throughout the second quarter.
  • Ippolito added her first goal for SJLI with 59 seconds left to end the half 13-2.
  • Swarthmore scored four more goals throughout the third.
  • Ippolito scored two goals at the end of the third quarter to bring the Golden Eagles to four points, one goal was assisted by Stobla.
  • The Garnet scored the only three goals in the fourth quarter to secure the victory over SJLI.

Notes:

  • Swarthmore collected 20 ground balls, while St. Joseph's collected 10.
  • The Garnet had 12 draw controls, while the Golden Eagles had 10.
  • Swarthmore caused eight turnovers, with SJLI causing three.
