Men's Lacrosse Downed by Curry

Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) men's lacrosse team drops to non-conference opponent Curry College 10-1 at home on Wednesday evening.

Top performers:

  • Junior Caden Stubba led the Golden Eagles with one goal and four ground balls.
  • Junior Matt Cioffi finished with one assist and one ground ball.
  • Freshman defenseman William Broger totaled five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
  • Senior Josh Bell went 9-for-13 in faceoffs, as well collected seven ground balls.
  • Freshman goalkeeper John Marino recorded a 54.5% save percentage, making 12 saves facing 37 shots, and tallying five ground balls and one caused turnover.

How it happened:

  • Curry scored the first two goals of the game before Stubba netted SJLI's goal off the pass from Cioffi.
  • Marino denied four of the six shots on goal in the first quarter to end the first quarter 2-1.
  • The Colonels would go on to score another two goals in the second quarter to lead into halftime 4-1.
  • Curry would hold SJLI scoreless in the third quarter, finding the back of the net three times themselves to take a 7-1 at the end of the third.
  • The Colonels would go on to score another three goals in the fourth quarter to take the 10-1 victory as the Golden Eagles were found scoreless once more. 

Notes:

  • The Colonels held a 39-34 ground ball advantage.
  • SJLI caused nine turnovers to Curry's seven.
  • St. Joseph's accumulated one minute and thirty seconds of penalty time.
