Men's Volleyball Extends Winning Streak to Five

Results:

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's volleyball team swept Manhattanville, 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-22), during Skyline Conference action on Tuesday evening.

Key Players:

  • Chris Sarnicola led the Golden Eagles with 11 kills, 14 digs and one block assist
  • Declan Kerns totaled 10 kills, nine digs, and two block assists
  • AJ Esposito added nine kills and three total blocks (one solo, two assists)
  • Dominic Ruggiero distributed a match-high 36 assists with two block assists and three digs

How it happened:

  • St. Joseph's dominated the opening set with strong offensive efficiency (.455 attack percentage), building a large lead behind kills from Sarnicola and Kerns, and closed it out convincingly at 25-11
  • The Golden Eagles carried their momentum into the second set, using solid blocking and defense to limit Manhattanville while Ruggiero set up efficient attacks from Esposito and Saricola for a 25-12 win
  • Manhattanville made the third set more competitive with improved hitting and kept it close early and midway through, but St. Joseph's pulled away late with key kills from Kerns, Saricola, and Chase Meyer to secure the 25-22 victory and complete the sweep

Notes:

  • St. Joseph's hit .313 as a team while totaling 41 kills in the match
  • The Golden Eagles recorded 7.5 team blocks defensively and 51 digs
  • SJLI controlled most of the match, particularly in sets one and two, and improved to 5-0 in conference play
