Men's Volleyball Remains Unbeaten In Conference Play

Results:

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's volleyball team swept Old Westbury, 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-19), during Skyline Conference action on Thursday evening.

Key Players:

  • Logan Meyer led the Golden Eagles with 12 kills on a .478 attack percentage and added eight digs
  • Sean Cantwell totaled seven kills with a .545 hitting percentage
  • Shaun Mischler added six kills and one block
  • Mason Aylward distributed 30 assists with two block solos, one service ace and three digs
  • Cole Violi contributed four kills, five digs, and one service ace

How it happened:

  • St. Joseph's jumped out to a strong start in the opening set with efficient offense (.483 attack percentage) and key contributions from Mischler, Meyer, and Esposito, building a comfortable lead before closing it out 25-13
  • The Golden Eagles maintained control in the second set behind Meyer's attacking prowess and Aylward's setting, using a balanced attack and timely service points to secure a 25-14 victory
  • Old Westbury kept the third set closer early on, but St. Joseph's pulled away in the later stages with strong hitting from Meyer, Cantwell, and Violi, finishing on a decisive run to earn the 25-19 win and complete the sweep

Notes:

  • St. Joseph's hit .404 as a team while totaling 49 kills in the match
  • The Golden Eagles recorded five team blocks defensively and four service aces
  • SJLI dominated from start to finish and never trailed significantly in any set, improving to 6-0 in Skyline Conference play
