Women's Lacrosse Topped on the Road by Stockton

Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's lacrosse topped on the road by Stockton University 25-4 on Wednesday afternoon. 

Top performers:

  • Junior Sabrina Doyle led the Golden Eagles with two goals, one ground ball, ane one draw control.
  • Junior Kaitlyn Ippolito recorded one goal, three assists, three ground balls, five draw controls, and one caused turnover.
  • Senior Julia Stolba tallied one goal, one assist, four draw controls, and one caused turnover.
  • Sophomore Taylor Metzler scored one goal and one ground ball for the Golden Eagles.
  • Junior Emily Grace Passaro made one assist and two draw controls.
  • Senior Maggie Harding finished with 10 saves, two ground balls, and two caused turnovers.
  • The Osprey's had 12 players score, with Brielle Soltys scoring five of them respectively.

How it happened:

  • St. Joseph's opened the game with a goal from Doyle, assisted by Ippolito. Stockton answered back to tie the game 1-1, then went on a five point scoring lead.
  • Stolba scored on a man up opportunity to pause Stockton's offensive drive. The Ospreys scored two more goals to end the first quarter 8-2.
  • The Ospreys led the second quarter scoring seven goals compared to SJLI two goals scored by Doyle and Metzler, ending the half 15-4.
  • Ippolito scored late in the third quarter, but couldn't keep up to Stockton's five goals scored.
  • Stockton scored four goals in the fourth quarter, with the defense holding St. Joseph's to zero shot attempts, and taking the 25-4 victory.

Notes:

  • Stockton collected 25 ground balls, while St. Joseph's collected 14.
  • The Osprey had 18 draw controls, while the Golden Eagles had 13.
  • Stockton caused 14 turnovers, with SJLI causing seven.

The Golden Eagles return home on Saturday, Mar. 14 to host non-conference team McDaniel College at 12:00 PM.
