Men's Lacrosse Tops Cairn, 19-7

Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) men's lacrosse team tops Cairn University, 19-7, at home on Wednesday afternoon.

Top performers:

  • Junior Caden Stubba led the Golden Eagles with six goals, six assists, and 11 ground balls.
  • Junior Anthony Herrera recorded five goals and two ground balls.
  • Freshman Ryan Schildt totaled two goals, two assists, four ground balls, and one caused turnover.
  • Sophomore Rohan Brown scored two goals, one assist, three ground balls, two caused turnovers.
  • Junior Najee Henderson tallied one goal, two assists, and five ground balls.
  • Junior Matt Cioffi finished with one goal, three assist and three ground balls.
  • Seniors Noah Danowski and Anthony LaVardera both scored their first collegiate goal for the Golden Eagles.

How it happened:

  • St. Joseph's opened the first quarter with four goals scored by Stubba and Herrera.
  • Cairn halted the Golden Eagles's scoring run with one goal to end the first quarter.
  • St. Joseph's went to score nine goals in the second quarter to boost their lead 13-1, until the Highlanders scored once more, ending the half 13-2.
  • Stubba, Cioffi, and Schildt netted the three goals for the Golden Eagles in the third quarter, while Cairn netted two in the third.
  • Both teams scored three goals each in the fourth quarter, but Cairn ultimately couldn't catch up to SJLI.
  • St. Joseph's would go on to secure their second win straight, with a end score of 19-7.

Notes:

  • Sophomore Sean Egan went 11-for-22 in faceoffs.
  • The Golden Eagles held a 60-52 ground ball advantage.
  • SJLI caused 18 turnovers to Cairn's nine.
