Men's Lacrosse Falls Short to MCLA

Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) men's lacrosse team falls short to MCLA, 8-6, at home on Saturday afternoon.

Top performers:

  • Junior Caden Stubba led the Golden Eagles with three goals, one assist, five ground balls, and one caused turnover.
  • Junior Najee Henderson tallied one goal, two assists, six ground balls, and one caused turnover.
  • Junior Matt Cioffi finished with one goal and one assist.
  • Senior Nick Morales scored one goal and collected one ground ball.
  • Freshman Ryan Schildt collected two assists and five ground balls.

How it happened:

  • MCLA opened the game by scoring four goals within the first quarter.
  • St. Joseph's came back to open the first goal of the second quarter by Cioffi from Stubba.
  • Morales netted a second goal from Henderson to end the half 4-2.
  • The Trailblazers scored two goals tp make their comeback in the third quarter, but a Stubba goal at the end of the quarter closed the gap slightly 6-3.
  • MCLA and St. Joseph's would score back-to-back goals in the fourth quarter to keep competition close.
  • With 16 seconds left in the fourth, Henderson would score a man-up goal, but it wasn't enough for the Golden Eagles to be victorious, falling short 8-6 at the end.

Notes:

  • Freshman John Marino recorded 11 saves while allowing eight goals and collected four ground balls.
  • The Trailblazers held a 43-39 ground ball advantage.
  • SJLI caused 16 turnovers to MCLA's 14.
