The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's volleyball team remain undefeated in Skyline Conference play with a straight-set sweep of St. Joseph's (BK) scores of 25-14, 25-15, 25-12 on Wednesday evening.
Key Players:
- Chris Sarnicola led the attack with eight kills with a .348 hitting percentage and added two blocks
- AJ Esposito contributed with five kills and added two blocks
- Declan Kerns posted four kills, one service ace, five digs, and two block solos
- Dominic Ruggiero orchestrated the offense with 25 assists
- Shaun Mischler added seven kills, three assists, two block solos, and five digs
- Connor Ruais finished with eight digs and one assist
How it happened:
- St. Joseph's (L.I) got off to a strong start in the first set, with a flurry of kills to take a dominant lead. This combined with well timed blocks led to a comfortable 25-14 win.
- The second set followed suit. The Golden Eagles jumped out to a commanding advantage behind efficient attacking and strong serving, cruising to a dominant 25-15 victory.
- In the third set, St. Joseph's (L.I) went behind early, but regained all the momentum. Consistent offense and solid defense allowed them to pull away and finish the match with the highest point deficit between the two teams. St. Joseph's (L.I) cruise to a 25-12 win, completing the sweep.
Notes:
- The Golden Eagles hit an impressive .273 as a team with 31 kills while holding the Bears to just -.040 hitting.
- St. Joseph's (L.I.) recorded nine total blocks across all three sets.
- SJLI improved to 12-0 in Skyline Conference play with a comfortable and dominant performance.
