Men's Volleyball Secures 13th Straight Conference Victory

Results:

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's volleyball team remained undefeated in Skyline Conference play with a straight-set sweep of Purchase College. The Golden Eagles won by scores of 25-13, 25-22, 25-17 on Tuesday evening.

Key Players:

AJ Esposito led the attack with 13 kills on just 14 attempts with a .929 hitting percentage and added four blocks
Chris Sarnicola contributed with seven kills and a team-high 12 digs
Shaun Mischler posted five kills, one service ace, four digs and one block
Dominic Ruggiero orchestrated the offense with 35 assists and added seven digs plus one block
Connor Ruais finished with 11 digs and one assist

How it happened:

St. Joseph's (L.I.) got off to a dominant start in the first set, using efficient attacking and strong blocking to build a big lead and cruise to a 25-13 win.
The second set was much closer. Purchase kept it competitive, but the Golden Eagles used timely kills and solid defense to pull away late and take the set 25-22.
In the third set, St. Joseph's (L.I.) regained full control. Consistent offense and fewer errors allowed them to pull away comfortably and finish the match with a 25-17 win, completing the sweep.

Notes:

The Golden Eagles hit an impressive .278 as a team with 37 kills while committing only 12 errors. They also held a 6-2 advantage in blocks.
SJLI limited Purchase to a .129 hitting percentage
