The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's volleyball team swept Old Westbury, 3-0 (25-6, 25-14, 25-20), during non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.
Key Players:
- Chris Sarnicola led the Golden Eagles with seven kills and nine digs
- Dominic Ruggiero totaled 24 assists, three service aces, one block assist, and one dig
- Logan Meyer added eight kills, one assist and one block assist
- AJ Esposito secured four kills, two block solos, one block assist and one dig
How it happened:
- St. Joseph's jumped out to a commanding start in the opening set, using a strong run to build a double-digit advantage before securing the 25-6 victory
- The Golden Eagles continued their momentum in the second set as Ruggiero distributed the ball effectively and Sarnicola powered the attack to help SJLI claim a 25-14 win
- Old Westbury kept the third set competitive early, but the Golden Eagles regained control midway through the frame behind strong offensive and defensive pressure
- St. Joseph's closed the set on a late push to earn the 25-20 win and complete the three-set sweep
Notes:
- St. Joseph's hit .435 as a team while totaling 40 kills in the match
- The Golden Eagles recorded eight team blocks defensively
- SJL controlled the match from the start and never trailed
