Softball Swept by Farmingdale

Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) softball team got swept by Farmingdale State College on Saturday morning.

Game One: Farmingdale 12, SJLI 1

Key Players:

How it happened:

  • Farmingdale opened the game in the top of the second with six runs scored and scored one run scored in the top of the third to take the 7-0 lead.
  • The Rams scored five runs in the top of the fifth and St. Joseph's answered with a run scored by Bove off a single from Tellier.
  • Despite the one run scored the Golden Eagles couldn't bounce back and FSC took the 12-1 in game one.

Game two: Farmingdale 13, SJLI 5

Key Players:

  • Senior Antonia Busa led the Golden Eagles with two runs scored, two hits, one stolen base, and one RBI.
  • Sophomore Sarah Murphy totaled one run scored, three hits, and one RBI.
  • Tellier recorded one run scored, two hits, and one stolen base.
  • Bove scored one run for the Golden Eagles.
  • Junior Emma Rondinella and senior Caitlyn Herzing both recorded two strikeouts each. 

How it happened:

  • Farmingdale started their lead with nine runs scored by the fourth inning.
  • St. Joseph's answered back in the bottom of the fourth with three runs scored by Busa, Bove, and Murphy.
  • The Golden Eagles scored two runs compared to the Rams one run scored in the fifth inning, with SJLI cutting FSC lead in half 10-5.
  • Farmingdale closed the game out with three runs scored in the top of the sixth to take the 13-5 victory.
