Men's Lacrosse Stopped By Maritime

Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) men's lacrosse drops fourth conference game of the season to SUNY Maritime, 26-3, on Wednesday night.

Top performers:

  • Junior Caden Stubba led the Golden Eagles with two goals, one assist, and one ground ball.
  • Junior Najee Henderson collected one goal.
  • Freshman goalkeeper John Marino tallied 20 saves and four ground balls.

How it happened:

  • St. Joseph's scored the first goal of the game late on the first quarter.
  • Maritime answered with four back-to-back goals to take the 4-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.
  • The Privateers went on an 11 goal scoring streak and held the Golden Eagles scoreless to extend their lead 15-1 going into halftime.
  • SUNY Maritime netted five goals compared to SJLI's one goal scored by Henderson from Stubba in the third quarter.
  • Stubba opened the fourth quarter with his second goal of the game, but the Privateers prevented the Golden Eagles from scoring anymore and found the back of the net six times to take the 26-3 victory.

  • The Privateers held a 45-21 ground ball advantage.
  • Maritime won 20 face offs compared to SJLI's 12.
  • SUNY Maritime recorded 16 caused turnovers to St. Joseph's one.
