Women's Lacrosse Takes Down Manhattanville

Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's lacrosse team takes down Mahattanville after a strong second half performance on Wednesday evening. 
 

Top performers:

  • Junior Sabrina Doyle led the Golden Eagles with six goals, three assists, two ground balls, one caused turnover, and three draw controls.
  • Senior Julia Stolba tallied four goals, one assist, 12 draw controls, four ground balls, and one caused turnover.
  • Sophomore Taylor Metzler scored three goals and had three assists.
  • Junior Kaitlyn Ippolito recorded three goals, four assists, five ground balls, four caused turnovers, and three draw controls.
  • Seniors Emily FarringtonGianna DArienzo and junior Emily Grace Passaro all scored one goal each for the Golden Eagles.
 

How it happened:

  • St. Joseph's opened the game with Ippolito scoring the first goal which was answered with two goals from Manhattanville.
  • SJLI managed to get two goals back by Metzler and Stolba but the Valiants answered once more.
  • Both teams netted five goals each to continue the tie game of 9-9 at the end of the half.
  • The Golden Eagles and the Valiants went back and forth in the beginning of the third, but SJLI went on a four goal run to take the lead 14-12 at the end of the third quarter.
  • St. Joseph's found the back of the net five times in the fourth quarter compared to Mahattanville's two goals scored to take the conference win 19-14.
 

Notes:

  • Senior Maggie Harding finished with nine saves and two ground balls 
  • St. Joseph's collected 21 ground balls to Manhattanville's 18
  • SJLI lead with 12 caused turnovers compared to the Valiants nine

The Golden Eagles will return home on Saturday, Apr. 18 at 12:00 PM for Senior Day as they host Mount Saint Vincent.
