Women's Lacrosse Tops UMSV on Senior Day

Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's lacrosse tops Mount Saint Vincent on Senior Day, 6-5, on Saturday afternoon.. 
 

Top performers:

  • Sophomore Taylor Metzler led the Golden Eagles with four goals for the Golden Eagles.
  • Junior Kaitlyn Ippolito tallied one goal, one assist, four ground balls, and three caused turnovers.
  • Senior Gianna DArienzo scored one goal.
  • Junior Sabrina Doyle totaled three assists, two ground balls, one caused turnover, and one draw control.
  • Senior Julia Stolba recorded one assist, one ground ball, and three caused turnovers.
  • Senior Maggie Harding made seven saves and had one caused turnover.
 

How it happened:

  • St. Joseph's Metzler scored the first goal of the game late in the first quarter to make the score 1-0.
  • Mount Saint Vincent found the back of the net twice in the second quarter to get in the lead 2-1 at the end of the half.
  • The Dolphins opened the second half scoring right away, but Metzler netted two goals to tie the game 3-3.
  • UMSV took the lead once more by scoring one goal midway in the fourth quarter, but back-to-back goals from DArienzo and Ippolito got the Golden Eagles back in front.
  • Despite Mount Saint Vincent netting one more goal on a free position shot, SJLI took the 6-5 victory, winning their fifth conference game.
