How it happened:

• St. Joseph's (L.I.) got off to a fast start and controlled the game for most of the evening. The Golden Eagles built momentum with a balanced offensive attack and timely scoring drives.
• Esposito got the Golden Eagles on the board first with a touchdown and successful one-point conversion in the opening quarter. Marchese then took over, scoring twice in the second quarter — including a touchdown with just 21 seconds remaining — to give SJLI a 19-6 lead at halftime.
• St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) responded with a touchdown in the third quarter, but Eichner blocked the one-point conversion to keep the Golden Eagles ahead 19-12 entering the fourth.
• SJLI put the game away in the final period. Marchese connected with Williams for a touchdown to open the quarter, and Marchese added one more touchdown with 1:08 left, followed by a successful one-point conversion, to close out the 32-12 victory and claim the inaugural Skyline Conference title.
