Baseball Drops Two to Farmingdale St.

Results:

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) baseball team dropped both games of a Skyline Conference doubleheader to Farmingdale State on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles fell 5-1 in the opener before dropping the nightcap 7-2.

How it happened - Game One:

  • Both teams were held scoreless through the first two innings before Farmingdale State took a 1-0 lead in the third on an RBI double.
  • St. Joseph's responded in the fourth inning, as Kurre led off with a single and came around to score on an RBI base hit from Amarando to even the score at 1-1.
  • The game remained tied until the bottom of the fifth when Farmingdale State put together a four-run inning to take a 5-1 lead.
  • The Golden Eagles were unable to respond offensively over the final two innings, as the Rams closed out the game to secure the win.
  • On the mound, Paul McNally (L, 3-3) took the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) over 4.1 innings. Ryan Barlow provided relief, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings.

  • Farmingdale State scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 5-0 lead.

  • The Golden Eagles cut the deficit to 6-2 in the eighth when Joe Hackal was hit by a pitch and Andrew Amarando tripled him home.
  • Farmingdale State added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to secure the 7-2 victory.
