The St. Joseph's University, Long Island baseball team powered its way to a doubleheader sweep over Mount Saint Vincent on Friday, taking game one 10-4 before erupting for a 14-2 victory in game two.

Game One: St. Joseph's (L.I.) 10, Mount Saint Vincent 4

Key Players:

  • Paul McNally went 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, two RBI, and a hit-by-pitch.
  • Dom Crema led the offense with a 3-for-4 performance, including a triple, double, and two RBI.
  • Alex Johnston scored twice and drove in a run while adding a stolen base.
  • Joe Hackal reached base twice, scoring once and driving in a run.
  • Connor Bunce added an RBI single in the decisive second inning.

How it Happened:

  • After a scoreless opening frame, the Golden Eagles broke the game open with a five-run second inning. RBI hits from Crema, Bunce, and McNally highlighted the rally, giving St. Joseph's an early 5-0 advantage.
  • Mount Saint Vincent answered with two runs in the third, but the Golden Eagles responded immediately, tacking on two more runs behind aggressive baserunning, including a steal of home by Marco Gullo.

  • Mount Saint Vincent struck first with an unearned run in the opening inning, but the Golden Eagles quickly responded with three runs of their own, taking advantage of a wild pitch and timely hitting from Amarando and Crema.
  • St. Joseph's continued to apply pressure, scoring in each of the first six innings. A two-run second and a two-run third built a steady cushion before the offense exploded for four runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by RBI doubles from Page and Ryan Kurre.
  • The Golden Eagles added insurance in the sixth, pushing the lead to 14-2 and putting the game out of reach.

On the Mound:

  • Ryan Callaghan earned the win, pitching 4.2 innings while allowing just one earned run and striking out five.
