Patchogue, NY| Four members of the St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) baseball team earned ABCA/Rawlings and/or D3Baseball.com All-Region accolades when the publications released their end-of-season awards on Tuesday morning.
Sophomore Paul McNally and freshman Andrew Amarando were recognized by both D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings. McNally claimed first-team honors from D3Baseball.com and second-team honors from ABCA/Rawlings, while Amarando took third-team honors from both ABCA/Rawlings and D3Baseball.com
Graduate student Frankie Asaro and junior pitcher Ryan Barlow earned D3baseball.com third-team selection.Â
McNally had a standout season for the Golden Eagles. The two-way standout led the Golden Eagles with a .439 batting average, a .727 slugging percentage, and a .533 on-base percentage. In 41 games, McNally scored 37 runs and recorded 58 hits, including 12 doubles, seven triples, and four home runs, while driving in 47 runs. On the mound, he posted a 5-4 record across 41.2 innings pitched with a 4.97 ERA. The Melville, NY native allowed just 23 earned runs and 39 hits, while posting 33 strikeouts.Â
Amarando made an immediate impact in his first season with the Golden Eagles posting a .391 batting average with 59 hits in 40 games. He totaled 41 runs, drove in 34 RBI, and added five doubles, two triples, and two home runs. The speedy outfielder was a constant threat on the basepaths, going 26-for-31 in stolen base attempts.
Asaro anchored the Golden Eagles infield and was awarded for his consistent performance at the plate. Asaro hit .336 with 46 hits in 41 games, including seven doubles and one home run. The infielder drove in 26 runs while providing steady defense with 48 putouts, 117 assists, and a .965 fielding percentage.Â
Barlow was dominant out of the bullpen for the Golden Eagles, recording a 2.12 ERA with a 1.01 WHIP across 15 appearances. In 29.2 innings pitched, he allowed just seven earned runs while striking out 23 batters and holding opponents to a .225 batting average, while also accumulating four saves on the season.Â
