Baseball Downed In Game Four of Skyline Conference Championship Tournament

Result:

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) baseball team fell to Farmingdale State, 10-4, in game four of the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament.

How It Happened:

  • After two scoreless innings, Farmingdale State broke through with a six-run third inning. The Rams capitalized on timely hitting and defensive miscues to take control of the contest early. 
  • The Golden Eagles responded in the bottom half of the third. Johnston opened the inning with a single before Hackal delivered an RBI single to left. Amarando later brought home Connor Bunce on a fielder's choice to cut the deficit to 6-2. 
  • Farmingdale added two more runs in the sixth inning on RBI singles from Ryan Plocker and Ryan Wasserman, extending the lead to 8-2. The Rams added another pair in the eighth to push the advantage to 10-2. 
  • St. Joseph's mounted a late rally in the bottom of the eighth. Gullo and Hackal opened the frame with back-to-back hits before Thatcher lined an RBI single to right. Dom Crema later brought home another run on a fielder's choice to make it 10-4, but the comeback attempt stalled there.

  • St. Joseph's totaled eight hits in the contest.
  • The Golden Eagles turned two double plays defensively.
