Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team took a 77-62 defeat to Skyline Conference rival Sarah Lawrence College in a Senior Day showdown inside the Danzi Center on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Golden Eagles slip to 5-19 overall on the year and 4-15 in Skyline play as the Gryphons improve to 14-11 (12-8 Skyline).

Junior Doug Niblock paced an SJC offense that shot 37.3% from the field with a team-high 16 points on 6-for-17 shooting. Senior Mike Harris went for 15 points (7-for-13 FG) and junior Brad Weiss contributed nine points and nine rebounds.

Freshman Matthew Lavin contributed six points off the bench and senior Matt Renahan earned a start and scored two points and pulled down five boards.

Omar Jamaleddine led the Gryphons with 20 points on 8-for-15 shooting from the field.

SJC started hot and jumped out to an early 7-2 lead 1:50 into the contest. The hosts later led 10-7 (15:18) but lost their grip on the game and went into the break down 50-29.

In the second, the Golden Eagles came as close as 13 points (61-48) but were not able to erase their double-digit deficit, eventually falling by a 77-62 scoreline.

Both teams struggled from beyond the arc but Sarah Lawrence was the better side in the paint where they outscored SJC 52-38 and outrebounded them 52-38.

The Golden Eagles wrap up their 2018-19 season with a Skyline Conference contest vs. Mount St. Mary College inside the Danzi Center on Monday, February 18 at 5:00 pm.
