The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) baseball team picked up a split against Colby-Sawyer College at the Ripken Experience on Friday afternoon. After falling to the Chargers 11-3 in game one, the Golden Eagles walked off with a 9-8 win in game two.

A sac fly and two-run home run put the Chargers ahead 3-0 after two innings

After adding a run in the bottom of the third, Colby-Sawyer got RBI singles from Cooper O'Brien and Noah Staffer in the fifth extending their lead to 6-0

The Golden Eagles got on the board with two runs in the top of the sixth. Three consecutive walks loaded the bases with one out for J. Hall who sent a base hit to right pushing the first run across. A batter later, Scott Northrop pinch hit sending a sac fly deep enough for Jack Russo to score

The Chargers responded with five runs on five hits in the bottom half of the inning for an 11-2 advantage

Thatcher started the top of the seventh with a base hit through the left side and came into score on a double to the left-center gap by Masino for the final run of the game

How it happened:

The Chargers jumped to an early lead in game two courtesy of a two-RBI single to left-center by Nick Johnson

A solo home run by Zach Rogers in the second put Colby-Sawyer ahead 3-0

After CSC added a run in the third, 4-0, the Golden Eagles batted around for five runs on four hits in the bottom half of the inning highlighted by an RBI triple by Ramlogan and an RBI double from Crema

The Golden Eagles added a run in the fourth, 6-4, when Hackal singled in Russo who started the inning with a base hit up the middle

A four-run top of the fifth put the Chargers back on top 8-6

A double by Russo and an infield hit by Ramlogan started the sixth. After a sacrifice bunt by Hackal moved both runners into scoring position, Crema drew a walk to load the bases. A balk forced in Russo before a sac fly by Masino scored Ramlogan to even the score at eight

After Morabito stranded a pair of Chargers in the top of the seventh, a pinch-hit single up the middle by John Lynch put the winning run on first. A batter later, Marco Gullo beat out an infield single that was thrown wide allowing pinch runner James Maggio to score and walk the Golden Eagles off to a 9-8 win
Next up, the Golden Eagles will wrap up their Myrtle Beach trip against SUNY Fredonia on Saturday, March 16th at 9:00 am.
