The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) baseball team opened Skyline Conference play taking both ends of a doubleheader against Mt. St. Mary College at Gregg Alfano Field on Friday evening. The Golden Eagles shut out the Knights 6-0 in game one before claiming game two 15-3.

How it happened:

The Golden Eagles jumped out with an early lead scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. John Lynch and Joe Hackal reached to start the inning and came in to score on a two-out single down the left-field line by Derek MasinoÂ

An RBI single through the right side by Anselmo Joya in the bottom of the third put St. Joseph's ahead 3-0

Two runs came in for the Golden Eagles in the bottom of the fifth extending their lead to 5-0

Ramlogan's RBI double in the bottom of the sixth added some insurance, 6-0

After MSMC's Ryan Lutinski singled with two outs in the seventh, Manger got Tyler Crocitto swinging for the final out

Ramlogan went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs

Mike DiFilippo finished 3-for-4 with the runs scored and an RBI

SJLI Starter Rober Wagner earned the win allowing three runs on three hits with for strikeouts. Justin Jaskolski provided three innings of scoreless relief surrendering just one hit
How it happened:

After the Knight plated three runs in the top of the first, the Golden Eagles batted around for five runs on six hits in the bottom half of the inning

Both Lynch and Ramlogan knocked in a pair of runs each in the third putting SJLI ahead 9-3

St. Joseph's tacked on a run in the bottom of the fourth when Rob Page singled in DiFilippo who tripled earlier in the inning
-
An RBI single from Derek Masino moved the score to 11-3 after five innings
-
A three-run bottom of the sixth highlighted by a two-RBI single from Masino pushed the score to 15-3 and secured the sweep
Next up, the Golden Eagles travel to face John Jay College for a non-conference contest on Wednesday, March 27th at 3:00 pm.
