Six Straight Wins for Baseball, 15-1 over John Jay

Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) baseball team picked up a non-conference win, 15-1, at John Jay College on Wednesday evening.

Key Players:

How it happened:

  • The Golden Eagles jumped out with an early lead scoring a run in the top of the first and second before a 2 RBI single from Dom Crema in the third moved the score to 4-0 in the third

  • The Bloodhounds plated their lone run of the game on an SJLI defensive miscue in the bottom half of the third

  • A two-RBI double from Lynch in the fourth followed by a three-run fifth put the Golden Eagles ahead 9-1

  • St. Joseph's added a run in the top of the six and RBIs from Joya and Thatcher in the seventh extended the lead, 12-1

  • Following a scoreless eighth, freshman Rob Page doubled in a run before Thatcher knocked in the final two runs with a triple in the left-center gap

Notes:

  • SJLI starter freshman Riley Morris earned his second win of the season allowing just one run on three hits with five strikes in six innings

  • CJ Rivera, Ryan Barlow, and Luke Gacovino all provided an inning of scoreless relief

  • John Jay's Alvy Grullon took the loss allowing seven runs on seven hits in four innings

Next up, the Golden Eagles return to Gregg Alfano Field and host Ramapo College for a non-conference contest on Tuesday, April 2nd at 3:30 pm.
