Game Recap: Baseball |

Non-Conference Loss for Baseball, 7-0, Against Kean

When and Where:

March 14, 2025 - Patchogue, NY

Records:

St. Joseph's (L.I.), 6-5; Kean, 14-2

Results:

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) baseball team dropped a non-conference contest to Kean University, 7-0, at Gregg Alfano Field on Friday afternoon.

Key Players:

  • Senior Anselmo Joya had two hits, a single to center in the second and a double in the eighth

  • Junior Jake Hall had a single to right in his only at-bat

How it happened:

  • Kean scored early with four runs in the top of the first. Three Cougars drew walks to load the bases, where a misplayed ball allowed two runs to score. A double down the left field line by Dan Reistle brought in two more runs

  • The visitors extended their lead via the two-run home run off the bat of Tyler Stone in the top of the fourth

  • A sac fly in the top of the seventh moved the score to 7-0

  • Joya sent a double into the left center gap and advanced to third on a wild pitch to start the bottom of the eighth, but Kean's Jason Gilman retired the next three Golden Eagles to end the inning

  • A walk and a single to right put two runners on with one out for the Golden Eagles in the bottom of the ninth, but once again Gilman got the next two batters to end the game

Notes:

  • Kean's Gilman went the distance, allowing just three hits with 11 strikeouts for his fifth win of the season

  • SJLI's starter Justin Jaskolski was tagged with the loss, allowing five runs, one earned, on two hits in three innings

Next up, the Golden Eagles travel down to the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, SC and will face McDaniel College on Tuesday, March 18th at 3:00 pm.
