The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) baseball team earned a pair of non-conference wins against Western Connecticut State University on day two at The Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, SC. The Golden Eagles shut out the Wolves 12-0 in the first game of the day before a seventh-inning rally lifted them to a 10-7 win in game two.

Freshman Paul McNally went 1-for-1 with three walks, two RBIs, and three runs scored

Starter Peter Manger earned the win allowing just one hit with four strikeouts in a complete game effort
How it happened:

Two runs in the bottom of the second put the Golden Eagles ahead early. An RBI double from John Lynch and an RBI single by Joya in the third made it 4-0

After adding two more in the fourth, 6-0, St. Joseph's batted around in the bottom of the six four six runs doubling their lead, 12-0. After a wild pitch pushed the first SJLI run across, Jordan Ramlogan knocked in Alex Johnston who walked earlier in the inning with a double. After the next two batters were hit by pitches, Joe Thatcher singled in a run before a two-RBI base hit from McNally capped the scoring in the inning

The Wolves just managed to break up Manger's no-hitter when Thomas Keough singled with one out in the seventh
Game two: SJLI 10; West. Conn., 7

Junior Dom Crema went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored

Junior Joe Hackal was 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored

Senior Mike DiFilippo finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored

Senior Dante Morabito picked up the win allowing one run on three hits with two strikeouts in two innings out of the pen
How it happened:

Crema's solo home run with two outs in the top of the first got the Golden Eagles on the board, but that lead was erased quickly with an RBI single by West. Conn.'s Nicholas Moeller in the bottom half of the inning, 1-1

St. Joseph's added five runs in the top of the second highlighted by a two-RBI double by Jake Hall and a pair of RBI singles from DiFilippo and Hackal, 5-1

The Wolves got a run back in the fourth when Charles Mulhall doubled to start the inning and came around to score on a hit from Thomas Aflak

Dan LaFroscia and James Maggio both knocked in a run in the top of the fifth for a 7-2 lead

A couple of RBI doubles and an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning inched the Wolves to within one, 7-6 before a wild pitch tied the game in the sixth

In the top of the seventh, McNally reached on an error before coming in to score the go-ahead run on a pinch-hit triple from Ramlogan. Another West. Conn. defensive miscue led to the second run of the inning before a balk sent DiFilippo home, 10-7

Anthony Marsala led off the bottom half of the seventh with a single but was erased when Aflak grounded into a double play. After a pinch-hit single to Keough, Morabito caught Spencer Barnett looking for the final out of the game
Next up, the Golden Eagles wrap up their trip to The Ripken Experience when they take on Colby-Sawyer College on Thursday, March 20th at 9:00 am.
