How it happened:

  • Kean responded immediately in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run inning capped by Brett Hilsheimer's two-run homer, taking a 4-1 lead.
  • SJLI battled back in the sixth, scoring twice to cut the deficit to 4-3. Connor Bunce doubled, Andrew Amarando singled, and Joe Thatcher delivered an RBI single. The Golden Eagles loaded the bases later in the inning but could not push across the tying run.
  • The offense went quiet again in the final three innings against strong relief pitching from Noah Rivera. Despite solid defense and a strong relief outing from Barlow (3.1 scoreless innings), St. Joseph's could not overcome the early deficit.
