Baseball Splits With Bridgewater St. at Ripken Experience

March 7, 2026 – Myrtle Beach, S.C. (Crosley Field)

Results:

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) baseball team defeated Bridgewater State, 11-7, in non-conference action during the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. 

Key Players:

  • Joe Thatcher went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and four RBIs
  • Andrew Amarando finished 3-for-4 with four runs scored and two RBIs
  • John Margolies added two hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs
  • Joe Hackal recorded a hit, two RBIs, and drew two walks
  • John Moeller pitched five innings, striking out six batters and allowed two runs on six hits

How it happened:

  • St. Joseph's jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Thatcher launched a three-run home run to center field to put the Golden Eagles ahead 3-0
  • Bridgewater State responded in the second inning with a two-run home run from Cam Beltramini to cut the deficit to 3-2
  • The Golden Eagles extended their advantage in the fourth inning with three runs, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Amarando and an RBI triple from Margolies to make it 6-2
  • Paul McNally added a solo home run in the fifth inning to push the lead to 7-2 before St. Joseph's plated two more runs in the sixth to take a 9-2 advantage
  • Bridgewater State rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth to trim the lead to 9-6, but the Golden Eagles answered in the seventh with a two-RBI double from Hackal to stretch the lead back to five runs
  • The Bears added a run in the final inning, but St. Joseph's held on to secure the 11-7 victory

Notes:

  • The Golden Eagles totaled 13 hits in the game compared to 11 for Bridgewater State 
  • Thatcher and McNally both homered to lead the St. Joseph's offense
  • John Moeller earned the win after striking out six over five innings on the mound
  • Ryan Barlow secured the save striking out two batters with bases loaded

Results:

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) baseball team dropped a 4-1 decision to Bridgewater State in non-conference action on Saturday evening. 

Key Players:

How it happened:

  • Bridgewater State jumped ahead early with a three-run first inning, highlighted by an RBI double from Ryan Flaherty and an RBI single from Joshua Selander to take a 3-0 lead
  • The Bears added another run in the fifth inning when Selander delivered his second RBI single of the game to extend the lead to 4-0
  • St. Joseph's broke through in the sixth inning when Bunce walked and eventually scored on an RBI groundout from Preston Gerena to make it 4-1
  • The Golden Eagles threatened in the seventh with a baserunner, but Bridgewater State closed out the game to secure the victory

Notes:

  • Bridgewater State finished with eight hits while St. Joseph's recorded two hits in the game 
  • Riley Morris started on the mound for SJLI and struck out six over five innings of work
