The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) baseball team fell to Wittenberg, 25-2, in non-conference action Sunday morning in Myrtle Beach.

How it Happened:

  • Wittenberg jumped out to an early lead with four runs in the first inning and added three more in the second to take a 7-0 advantage. 
  • The Tigers continued to extend their lead with single runs in the third and four more in the fourth before plating five runs in the fifth inning to make it 17-0.
  • The Golden Eagles broke through in the eighth inning when Preston Gerena delivered an RBI single to right field, scoring Jake Hall to put St. Joseph's on the board. 
  • Wittenberg responded with five runs in the bottom half of the inning
  • Gerardi connected on a solo home run to right field in the ninth inning for the Golden Eagles' second run of the contest. 

Notes:

  • Wittenberg totaled 24 hits in the game while St. Joseph's finished with six.
  • Gerardi's ninth-inning home run accounted for the Golden Eagles' lone extra-base hit of the game.
