  • The Golden Eagles chipped away throughout the middle innings; Shortell drove in a run with a groundout in the fourth before a big fifth inning brought St. Joseph's back into the game.
  • Thatcher delivered an RBI single, Shortell added another RBI on a fielder's choice, and Andrew Amarando came home on an interference play to cut the deficit to 9-5.
  • Thatcher continued his strong day at the plate in the sixth, blasting a solo home run to left field to make it 9-6. St. Joseph's threatened to climb closer, but the Stevens bullpen held the line over the final three innings.
