How it happened:

• St. John Fisher jumped on top early, scoring two runs in the first inning on Jackson Frey's two-RBI single and adding one more in the second on Noah Pohrte's solo home run to take a 3-0 lead. 
• St. Joseph's (L.I.) got on the board in the bottom of the third when Amarando delivered an RBI double to score Asaro, making it 3-1. 
• The Cardinals extended their lead in the fourth with Pohrte's two-run homer, but the Golden Eagles responded later in the inning with Alex Johnston's RBI double to cut the deficit to 5-2.
• SJLI pulled within 5-4 in the sixth inning, scoring two runs on Johnston's second RBI double and a stolen base that allowed Dom Crema to score from third. 
• St. John Fisher answered with three unearned runs in the seventh, highlighted by Jack Griffin's two-RBI triple, and added three more in the ninth on extra-base hits from Mario Cubello and Scott Sleurs plus a single from Pohrte.

Notes:

• St. Joseph's (L.I.) recorded seven hits, including four doubles, but committed three errors.
• The Golden Eagles struck out 11 times and left nine runners on base.
