The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) baseball team dropped a non-conference contest to St. John Fisher University 7-5 at Gregg Alfano Field on Saturday afternoon.

How it happened:

  • St. Joseph's (L.I.) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Thatcher and Amarando scored on an error by the St. John Fisher shortstop. 
  • The Golden Eagles added a run in the fourth when McNally scored on a groundout by Margolies, making it 3-0. 
  • SJLI extended the lead to 5-0 in the sixth as McNally scored on another fielder's choice by Margolies and Margolies came home on Asaro's RBI single.
  • St. John Fisher got on the board with one run in the seventh. The Cardinals then erupted for five runs in the eighth — highlighted by Jackson Frey's RBI double, Mario Cubello's RBI single, and two unearned runs on a St. Joseph's error — to take a 6-5 lead. 
  • St. John Fisher added one final run in the ninth on a passed ball. 

Notes:

  • St. Joseph's (L.I.) recorded eight hits but committed two errors.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday, April 7, when they host NJCU for a non-conference double-header contest starting at 3:00 pm.
