Albany, N.Y. - The Sage Colleges men's soccer team hosted St. Joseph's College on Saturday night in the Plumeri Sports Complex. The contest pitted the No. 4 Sage Gators against the No. 5 Eagles of St. Joseph's College in the quarterfinals of the 2010 Skyline Conference Championships. By night's end, the Eagles would exact revenge from the regular-season meeting as they triumphed 5-2. St. Joseph's improves to 11-7-1 and advances to the semifinals to face top seeded Maritime College on November 3 at 7 p.m. Sage's first season comes to an end as the Gators posted an impressive 7-9-1 record in their first season of varsity play and yielded a post-season appearance as the new kids on the block.

St. Joseph's tallied the first goal right off the opening kick as senior Stephan Zaech (Farmingville, NY/Sachem East) scored just 37 seconds into the match. Sage answered right back as freshman Chris Peralta (Wyandanch, NY/Martin Luther King, Jr.) scored the tying goal at 6:05 for his fourth of the season.

The rest of the scoring would belong to the Eagles as sophomore John Dettori (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) netted a hat trick. Zaech collected two assists on the night as did freshman Terrence Dzus (Central Islip, NY/Islip).  Dettori leads St. Joseph's in scoring this fall as he now has 17 goals, while Zaech has 13 goals with nine assists for 35 points.

Sage's freshman Scott Jarosz (Brunswick, ME/Brunswick) scored the final goal of the match with just one second left to play as he tallied his eighth goal to lead Sage in scoring this fall with 17 points.

St. Joseph's sophomore goalie Peter Ryan (Sayville, NY/Sayville) racked up the win with six saves, while Sage's freshman Carmen Volpe (Cohoes, NY/CBA) registered seven saves for Sage.
