Golden Eagles Walk-off with Split vs. Western Conn.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Patchogue, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College baseball team (15-21) split its double header with the Colonials of Western Connecticut (12-18) 5-4 and 11-0 in the first and second game, respectively.

Leading the way in the first game for the Eagles was catcher Mike Aloisio. Aloisio went 3-for-3 with two runs scored, a stolen base, and came up a homerun shy of the cycle. Anthony Andreani went 2-for-3 with one run scored. Designated hitter Matt Ginobbi, shortstop Alex Ras, leftfielder Eric Florin, and centerfielder Brian Hannigan all drove in one run for the Eagles. No RBI was bigger than Ras's. With no outs in the bottom of the seventh Ras hit a walk-off single to left with the bases loaded, bringing home Willms for the winning run.

Earning the win in relief for St. Joseph's was freshman Chris Rubin. Rubin pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings en route to his first victory of his college career. Starter Glenn Patriss pitched 5 1/3 innings allowing four earned runs on eight hits while striking out four.

In the second game, the Colonials bats came alive. Western Connecticut scored one run in the top of the first, two in the second, and exploded for eight in the third. Starter Frank Trionfo was on the hook for five earned runs and didn't make it out of the third inning, being pulled for reliever Jake Brown. Brown only managed to get two outs while giving up five unearned runs due to errors by the St. Joseph's defense.

Only four Eagles managed to get a hit off Western Connecticut's Zach Taylor. Taylor pitched seven innings and allowed only five base runners.
