Kissimmee, FL| After falling 3-2 at the hands of St. Scholastica, the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) softball team wrapped its five-day, 10-game trip at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, FL with a 5-4, walk-off victory over Mount St. Joseph on Sunday afternoon.

With the afternoon's split the Golden Eagles return home with a 3-7 overall record.

St. Scholastica 3, SJC 2

St. Joseph's opened the scoring in the top of the first when Ashley Steponaitis (1-for-3) sent Lyndsay Smocer (1-for-2, 2 runs) home with an RBI single to right center, but St. Scholastica responded immediately in the bottom of the first when Hannah Borgeson advanced home on an error.

The Saints took the lead in  the bottom of the second when Alexa Bremer doubled to center and scored Samantha Clark.

SJC would knot the game up at two in the top of the fifth after Smocer stole home, but Dakota Underwood's RBI single in the bottom of the fifth proved to be the winning run as St. Scholastica earned the 3-2 win.

Lauren Buturla (0-4) started on the mound for the Golden Eagles and allowed two earned runs in 4.1 innings. Ashley Blydenburgh struck out two batters in 1.2 innings of relief.

SJC 5, Mt. St. Joseph 4

The Lions grabbed the 1-0 lead in the top of the second and doubled it in the top of the fourth via a Brandy Bunch groundout that scored Katie Tarter.

Jillian McFadzen (1-for-4) knotted the game up in the bottom of the fourth when her two-RBI double scored both Steponaitis (2-for-3) and Gabrielle Cinquemani, but Mt. St. Joseph went back up (3-2) in the top of the fifth.

Paige Kieswetter' wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth allowed Lyndsay Smocer to score and eventually forced extra innings. Mt. St. Joseph pulled back ahead in the top of the eighth (4-3) but paved the way for Steponaitis to tie the game in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single to right.

Five batters later, and with the bases loaded, Madeline Sganga was walked and forced Cinquemani home to earn the 5-4 win.

Theresa Cardello (2-2)  pitched all eight innings for SJC and struck out three batters while allowing three earned runs.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, March 17 when they host Monroe College for a doubleheader at 3:30 pm.
