Late Game Push Downs Baseball in Skyline First-Round

Box Score

Post Game Press Conference

Throggs Neck, NY| The St. Joseph's College baseball team was eliminated from the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament with a 10-9 first-round loss to #4 SUNY Maritime on Wednesday evening.

SJC ends its season at 20-17 as the Privateers advance in the tournament at 22-16.

The Golden Eagles built a 4-0 lead early with a pair of runs in the top of the first and the second.

Maritime chipped away at the visitor's advantage pushing across a run over the next three innings to cut the deficit to one, 4-3.

A three-run homerun to right by Anthony Raucci in the top of the seventh provided some distance between the two teams, but the lead was short lived as the home team plated two runs in the bottom half of the inning moving the score to 7-5.

The Golden Eagles added a run in the top of the eighth courtesy of an RBI single from Daniel Campanelli, but back-to-back home runs from Maritime's Adam Mosca and Eric Wenig erased the deficit and knotted the score at eight.

St. Joseph's capitalized on a Privateer defensive miscue in the top of the ninth to regain a one-run lead, 9-8, but an RBI single from Maritime's Wenig tied the game at nine and Shane Sullivan worked a based loaded walk to push across the game-winning run.

SJC's Tyler Sanderson finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored. Tyler Costa, Nick Vicino and Gehrig Montoro all provided two hits apiece.

Starter Anthony Papa allowed three runs on four hits with six strikeouts in five innings of work. Tim Woodford provided 2.1 innings of relief and surrendered five runs on five hits. Anthony Caminiti was tagged with the loss after allowing two runs on three hits in 1.1 innings out of the pen.
