Farmingdale, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) softball team picked up a pair of victories, 10-7 and 7-1, over SUNY Old Westbury at Farmingdale State College on Saturday afternoon.

With the wins, the Golden Eagles improve to 9-3 overall and 7-3 in Skyline Conference play as the Panthers fall to 0-7.

SJC 10, OW 6
After falling behind 1-0 in the bottom of the first, SJC went ahead 2-1 in the top of the third when Lauren Crawford (3-for-5, 3 RBI) singled up the middle to score Jenna DeFina (3-for-5) before Lindsay Ness (2-for-3, 1 RBI) scored Crawford with a double down the left-field line.

A seven-run fourth inning, highlighted by Crawford's two-RBI double to right center, scoring DeFina and Samantha Dimezza (1-for-2, 1 RBI), extended SJC's lead to eight runs (9-1), but the Panthers responded in the bottom of the fifth with three runs, cutting the deficit to five runs (9-4).

Lindsey McKenna's (1-for-2) RBI single in the top of the sixth capped off SJC's scoring (10-4) but Old Westbury registered a couple of consolidation runs in the bottom of the sixth (10-6).

Picking up the win for SJC was Patricia McGloin (4-2), who struck out three batters and allowed six runs in 5.1 innings of work. The junior also hit 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Julia Ruocchio tossed 1.2 innings, struck out two and allowed just one hit.

SJC 7, OW 1
Paige Csikortos (3-for-4, 4 RBIs) opened the scoring in the top of the first with an RBI single to right field that scored Ness (3-for-4) to give the guests an early 1-0 lead. Old Westbury would answer in the bottom half of the inning when Christina Hassett scored Mallory Moretti with a sac fly to right field (1-1).

Csikortos reestablished SJC's lead in the third inning when she singled down the left-field line, enabling Ness and Crawford (1-for-3, 1 RBI) both to score (3-1).

McKenna (1-for-2, 1 RBI) tacked on another run in the top of the fifth with an RBI single to right (4-1), and Ashley Accardi (1-for-4, 2 RBI) further extended SJC's lead to 6-1 with a two-RBI double later in the inning.

Crawford's ground out to second that scored DeFina (2-for-4) in the top of the sixth (7-1) would wrap up the afternoon's scoring.

Ruocchio (3-1) struck out four batters and allowed one earned run in a complete-game effort.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Sunday, April 25 when they host Old Westbury for a single Skyline Conference contest beginning at 2:00 pm. On-site spectators are strictly prohibited.
