| Box Score 2

Myrtle Beach, SC| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) softball team opened its 2022 season on Sunday with a win and a pair of losses at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach, SC.

After dropping a 7-1 decision to Albertus Magnus in the morning, the Golden Eagles toppled Albright, 5-3. SJC ended the day with a 2-1 loss to Stevenson.

Albertus Magnus 7, SJC 1

A two-runner homer in the bottom of the fifth put Albertus Magnus ahead, 2-0, and a five-run sixth extended their lead to seven runs (7-0).

SJC's only run came off the bat of Jenna DeFina (1-for-3), who scored Madison DiPalo (2-for-3) with an RBI single through the right side.

Patricia McGloin (0-1) pitched a complete game for St. Joseph's and was charged with four earned runs. The senior was credited with two strikeouts.

SJC 5, Albright 3

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the second, SJC got even (1-1) in the bottom half of the inning when Julia Ruocchio (2-for-2) singled up the middle and scored Lindsay Ness (0-for-3).

Albright brought the game level in the top of the third, but not for long, as Emily Fenezia (1-for-4) knotted the score at two with an RBI single to center that scored Jenna Kreiling (3-for-3).

RBI doubles off the bats of Elena Serio (2-for-3) and Kreiling in the bottom of the fourth inning doubled SJC up on Stevenson (4-2), and Serio's second RBI of the contest--via a single that scored Ruocchio--put the Golden Eagles ahead 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth.

Olivia Verderosa (1-0) tossed a complete-game victory in her first pitching appearance for St. Joseph's. The junior fanned 10 batters and allowed one earned run.

Stevenson 2, SJC 1

Down 2-0 heading into the top of the sixth, Ness (1-for-3) put SJC on the board (2-1) with an RBI double to center field that scored DeFina (1-for-2).

Only six hits were registered in the contest, with each team credited with three apiece.

Alex Tenety (0-1) struck out one and was charged with two earned runs in her SJC debut.

The Golden Eagles return to action at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic on Monday when they face Lancaster Bible and Lycoming.
