The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's basketball team dropped their second Skyline Conference match up 70-64 at the University of Mt. St. Vincent on Saturday afternoon.

How it happened:

Mt. St. Vincent led wire to wire in the first quarter stretching their lead to as many as nine with 2:27 on the clock

Junior Felicia Barreiros quickly responded with a bucket and a free throw from Spina cut the deficit to six, 14-8
-
A pair of Dolphin free throws followed but SJLI ended the quarter on a 5-0 run trailing 16-13

Clancy's seven unanswered points midway through the second quarter gave the Golden Eagles their first lead of the day, 26-22

The visitors held a slight advantage through the back half of the frame, but UMSV's Grace Kennedy made a layup and completed the three-point play with a made free throw to send the teams into the locker rooms deadlocked at 32

A closely played third quarter did not see either side with a lead larger than four, but the Dolphins fared slightly better outscoring St. Joseph's 18-16 to head into the final quarter leading 50-48

After Twohig put the Golden Eagles ahead, 55-53, about a minute and a half into the quarter, Mt. St. Vincent answered with a 7-0 run to retake the lead 60-55 with 5:31 on the clock

The Golden Eagles inched to within one on a couple of occasions down the stretch, but the Dolphins held on for the 70-64 win  Â
