The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's basketball team closed out 2024 with a 66-57 non-conference win over John Jay College in the Danzi Center on Monday afternoon.

Graduate student Charlotte Twohig led all players with 23 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the floor while adding a team-high seven rebounds and three assists

How it happened:

John Jay dropped in back-to-back buckets to open the game, but a 12-2 run by the Golden Eagles had the hosts leading 12-6 midway through the first quarter

Minutes later, a three from John Jay's Alexis Jones cut the deficit to one, 12-11, but SJLI closed out the frame with seven unanswered points for a 19-11 advantage

A layup from Twohig gave the Golden Eagles their largest lead of the half, 31-8, with just under four minutes on the clock

John Jay chipped away closing the game to seven, but St. Joseph's took a 32-25 lead in the locker rooms

The Bloodhounds outscored the Golden Eagles 16-15 in the third quarter but went into the final quarter trailing 47-41

A pair of free throws from Twohig put the St. Joseph's lead back into double digits, 52-42, with just over seven minutes on the clock, but eight unanswered points brought the visitors to within two, 52-50, at the midway point
