The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) softball team ends the Fast Pitch Dreams Spring Classic trip with a non-conference defeat to Muhlenberg on Wednesday.
Key Players:
- Freshman Jackie Flannery totaled one hit on two appearances at the plate
- Junior Mariah Salvatto added one hit, going 1-2 on the day
- Gillian Zack led the Mules with two hits, two RBIs, and one run scored
- Muhlenberg's Ava Calabrese secured one hit, one walk, and two runs batted in
- Kaya Mahy of Muhlenberg scored a game-high three runs to go along with one hit and two walks
How it happened:
- After the Mules held SJLI scoreless in the top half of the first inning, the Mules scored three runs on three hits and two errors
- The bottom of the third inning saw Muhlenbergs lead-off batter single to short, which would later lead to two errors, allowing one run to score
- Later in the inning, a Calabrese two-RBI single up the middle extended the Mule's lead to 6-0Â
- Muhlenberg kept the momentum in their favor as in the bottom of the fourth, they scored five runs on four hits, highlighted by a two-RBI double through the left side from Zack, with Samantha Winegard hitting a two-RBI double to left field that captured the 11-0 victory
