The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) baseball team started Skyline Conference play with a pair of wins at Yeshiva University on Friday afternoon. The Golden Eagles claimed a 14-1 win in game one before cruising to a 29-1 win in game two.

How it happened:

The Golden Eagles led early with a run in the top of the first and another in the top of the third

Senior James Maggio tripled in the top of the fourth, knocking in Dom LaFroscia, who doubled earlier in the inning, and then came in to score on an RBI ground out by senior Mike DiFilippo, 4-0

The Maccabees got on the board with a run in the bottom half of the fourth when Coby Kamish doubled to start the inning and came in on an RBI ground out by Jacob Shakin

An RBI double by Joya in the top of the fifth and a three-run top of the sixth put St. Joseph's ahead 8-1

SJLI sent 11 Golden Eagles to the plate in the top of the seventh for six runs before Roy pitched around a two-out double in the bottom half of the inning to secure the 14-1 win

SJLI starter Sean Cantwell was credited for the win after he allowed just one hit with six strikeouts in five innings

Junior Damien DiGiuseppe provided two innings of relief with no hits, allowing one unearned run with four strikeouts
How it happened:

An 11-run top of the first put SJLI ahead early in game two. Joya delivered two three-RBI doubles with Quinlan adding a three-RBI triple. Johnston and LaFroscia also knocked in a run each

Eising's two-RBI single to left capped a four-run top of the second for a 15-0 Golden Eagle advantage
-
After adding a run in the third, SJLI batted around for five runs on three hits in the top of the fourth, moving the score to 21-0
-
Following a scoreless fifth, the Golden Eagles added a run in the sixth before Yeshiva broke up the shutout in the bottom half of the inning, 22-1

The Golden Eagles added seven runs on four hits and three Yeshiva errors in the top of the ninth before DiGiuseppe retired the Maccabees in order for a 29-1 final
Next up, the Golden Eagles return to Gregg Alfano Field for a non-conference double header on Saturday, March 8th when they host Keene State at 11:00 am.
