Luke MacPherson was named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Div. III Northeast All-Region as announced on Tuesday.
MacPherson becomes just the third AVCA All-Region selection in program history on the heels of his first Skyline Player of the Year distinction.
MacPherson, a two-time All-Conference honoree, earned Player of the Year honors on the back of one of his most impressive seasons for the Golden Eagles. The outside hitter appeared in 74 sets across 25 matches and leads the team with 240 kills, while hitting at a .292 clip, and averaging 3.09 kills per set, both suitable for top 10 finishes in the conference. He leads the team, averaging 1.96 digs per set, while second on the team in total digs with 145. The Ronkonkoma, NY native added a team-high 35 service aces, with 30 total blocks, and 18 assists.
Top-seeded SJLI took down second-seeded New Jersey City University in the Skyline Conference final on Saturday for their fourth-straight championship. The Golden Eagles will travel to Southern Virginia University and will face Thiel College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Tournament on Thursday, April 17 at 6:30 pm.
