Game One: SJLI 7, FSC 6

Key Players:

  • Sophomore Jacquline Flannery finished with two hits, one run scored, and one run batted in
  • Amber Danz and Emily Fenezia each totaled one hit and one run scored

How it happened:

  • Farmingdale captured the first runs and lead of the game in the bottom of the second inning as they scored two runs on no hits
  • The Golden Eagles respond in the top of the third inning, totaling four runs on three hits, highlighted by a Julia Ruocchio RBI double to left center as SJLI held a 4-2 lead
  • FSC would cut the deficit to just one run in the fourth inning, as a single up the middle brought home one run to score
  • The Rams would tie the game in the bottom of the fifth on a throwing error on behalf of SJLI, making it 4-4
  • With runners on second and third, a Vacchio single through the left side drove in both LaBarba and Fenezia to score, recapturing a two-run advantage
  • St. Joseph's added to their lead in the top of the seventh as they secured three hits in the inning, and an error on behalf of FSC allowed another run to score to take a 7-4 lead

  • Neither team would score until the Rams found the scoreboard at the bottom of the sixth on a RBI double to left field to make it a one-score game
  • The Rans looked to tie or take the lead in the final inning with the tying run on third base, but a grounder to shortstop allowed SJLI the force out at second base to close out a game two victory and secure the sweep
