How it happened:

• St. Joseph's captured the first goal and lead of the game when Allen scored just ninety seconds into the game, followed by a Stubba goal five minutes later to hold a 2-0 advantage
• The Knights tied the game, scoring two goals in the final two minutes of the first quarter
• MSMC continued their scoring run early into the second quarter, netting the first goal of the quarter at the 12:27 mark
• Henderson tied the game at three just six minutes later, as both teams were kept off the scoreboard in the final six minutes of the first half to keep the game tied at three
• Owenburg propelled the Golden Eagles ahead in the first two minutes of the second half, beating the goalkeeper off a pass from Henderson
• Mt. St. Mary's responded by scoring three straight to take a 6-4 lead with just 1:34 remaining in the third quarter, before Henderson found the back of the net with just over one minute left to make it a one-score game heading into the final frame
• Owenburg again scored the first goal of the quarter to tie the game before MSMC scored just three minutes later to take control of the lead again
• A caused turnover from Argueta, provided SJLI with possession, setting up another Owenburg goal to tie the game at seven and force overtime
• The Knights would find the back of the net with just under two minutes left in overtime, as MSMC would secure the 8-7 victory over St. Joseph's
