Results:

Manhattanville swept the St. Joseph's University (L.I.) softball team in a Skyline Conference matchup on Thursday evening. 

Game One: SJLI 0, Manhattanville 9

How it happened:

  • Manhattanville scored the first runs in the game in the bottom of the first inning, securing two runs scored on two hits
  • The Valiants again added to their lead in the third inning on a single up he middle that eventually saw three runners brought in to score on an error on St. Joseph's 
  • Manhattanville again scored in the fourth inning, totaling four runs on just three hits, highlighted by a three-RBI double to center field to claim game one 9-0

Game two: SJLI 2, Manhattanville 19

How it happened:

  • As the Valiants held the Golden Eagles off the scoreboard in the opening inning, Manhattanville proceeded to score six runs on five hits to take an early commanding lead
  • After scoring an additional two runs in the second, SJLI responded with Bove driving in Inserra to score, followed by a Labarba single to third base, allowing Bove to score, making it a 9-2 score
  • The Valiants again found the scoreboard in the third inning, as they collected five runs on five hits, highlighted by two separate home runs that brought home all five runs to score
  • In the fourth inning, Manhattanville secured the win with another three-RBI home run, as two more runs scored later in the inning to claim game two
