How it happened:

• The Mariners took control of the game early, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first seven minutes of play
• USMMA would hold SJLI scoreless, scoring an additional five goals in the final five minutes of the first quarter to take a nine-goal advantage heading into the second quarter
• Ippolito ended the scoring run for the Mariners and scored the first goal of the second quarter off the pass from Stolba, just 67 seconds into the quarter
• Merchant Marine Academy responded by scoring four unanswered to make it a 13-1 game before back-to-back goals from Doyle and Lange cut the deficit to 10 as the first half came to a close
• As the second half got underway, Ippolito found the back of the net off the feed from Mattera just 35 seconds into action
• The Mariners would answer back with a goal of their own two minutes later, before Ippolito took advantage of a free position attempt on a man-up opportunity to make it a 14-5 game
• USMMA would outscore SJLI 3-1 in the final eight minutes of the third quarter, with Lange securing the lone goal for St. Joseph's down the stretch
• The United States Merchant Marine Academy outscored the Golden Eagles 4-0 in the final quarter as the Mariners secured the 21-6 victory and advanced in the Skyline Conference Championship Final
