Webber's Six Goals Lead Eagles Over Manhattanville

Box Score

Patchogue, N.Y. - The Lady Eagles prevailed in a hard fought non-conference win with a feisty Manhattanville team to get over .500 for the first time at 6-5.  Caitlynn Webber had a career-high six goals with one assist for the Lady Eagles. She also recorded five draw controls, as she dominated on the offensive end of the field.

Manhattanville jumped off to a 4-2 lead halfway through the first half, and still led by 6-5 on Melissa Goncalves fourth goal with 2:42 left in the first stanza.

The first five St. Joseph's goals were scored by five different players, a trait that is becoming more and more common for the Lady Eagles. Jackie Myers tied the game at 1-1 off a feed from Lisa Terry.  Grace Ann Fallon then assisted on Margot Howard's goal to make it 3-2.  Caitlin Halloran scored an unassisted goal to make it 4-3 and a Terry's free position shot at 9:45 tied the game at 4-4. Cait Webber's goal at 3:15, off a feed from Karalyn Tetelman tied it back up at 5-5.

In the last two minutes of the half, Webber scored her second goal and Tetelman used two individual efforts just twenty-three seconds apart to give the SJC their biggest lead of the game, 8-6, with just three seconds remaining in the half.

After Manhattanville closed the margin to one in the first minute of the second half, St. Joseph's began to take over the game. They would score the next five goals to take a commanding 13--7 lead with 12:51 left in the game - Webber at 27:04, then Myers from Webber at 20:26 and Webber again at 15:32 to give the home team some breathing room. Then Tetelman hit a free position shot at 14:57 and Alyssa Cordano fed Webber for the thirteenth goal.

Manhattanville scored two goals in fifty seconds, both by Casandra Honovich, assisted by Goncalves, but Webber answered back again at 5:33.  Manhattanville's Howley hit a free position shot with 4:30 left to make it 14-10, but Tetelman and Howard ended the scoring for St. Joseph's with goals just twenty-four seconds apart.

The game featured some record breaking performances for St. Joseph's. Karalyn Tetelman had a career-high four goals with one assist, giving her ten goals in the last three games.  Howard also scored a career-high two goals off the bench for the SJC.  Erin O'Connor recorded ten saves in a masterful performance. Nicole Lyman continued her excellent play as she recorded four draw controls and Michelle Gulino added three more, as the Lady Eagles won the draw battle 17 to 9.  St. Joseph's also outshot Manhattanville, 28-23.

St. Joseph's has a critical Skyline Conference game next with Mt. St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
