Spectacular Seniors Tally Ten Scores to Pummel Maritime, 19-0

Box Score

Patchogue, N.Y. - The St. Joseph's College women's lacrosse team scored 19 goals or more for the fourth time this season, as they whizzed past the Maritime Privateers, 19-0, on Saturday afternoon during Senior Day at Danzi Stadium.  The Golden Eagles victory over the Privateers extends their Skyline Conference winning streak to 4-0 with an overall record of 8-3 and dropping the visitor's record to 2-7 overall with an 0-4 Skyline mark.

With the shutout, St. Joseph's holds their opponent to no scores for the first time since March of the 2012-13 season against the Purchase Panthers, where they won 16-0.

Goaltenders Courtney Wickline (Medford, N.Y./ Bellport) and Katie McGarrell (Selden, N.Y./ Newfield) split time in cage to record two saves apiece to uphold the shutout.

SJC's sizzling offense featured 12 different scorers, including a hat trick from Tricia Barrett and two-score afternoons from Caitlynn Webber (Eastport, N.Y./ Eastport-South Manor), Heather Ferchland (Selden, N.Y./ Centereach), Ela Igdeler (Islip, N.Y./ Islip), Graceann Fallon (Kings Park, N.Y./ Kings Park), and Kacie Mitterando (Mastic Beach, N.Y./ William Floyd).  Webber led the team in points, adding a game-high three assists to her scoring outing.

The Lady Eagles got off to a quick start, scoring four goals in the first five minutes of action. By midway through the first half, Ferchland capitalized on an unassisted goal to give SJC a 10-0 advantage to start the running game clock.

St. Joseph's took a 13-0 lead into halftime and came out flying in the second period, finding the back of the net five more times to finish off the gassed Privateers.

All facets of the contest were dominated by the Golden Eagles. They outshot the visitors, 34-4, won the ground ball battle, 19-7, and controlled the draw circle, 15-6.

St. Joseph's College's will look to keep their Skyline Conference record untarnished, as they ready to face off against the Old Westbury Panthers (2-6,1-3 Skyline) Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. at home.
